England Vs Australia at the Cricket World Cup

England play Australia today in the cricket world cup. Australia are currently at 1.27 on Betfair. They should walk it, but England (like Leyton Orient) are so unpredictable, that for once I would err on the side of caution and sit this one out. Knowing England, they will probably beat Australia and then lose to Bangladesh.

French Presidential election

Nicolas Sarkozy to be next French President at 1.5 on Betfair should be taken while it is still available. Every poll I have seen over the past few months has put him ahead of his Socialist rival, the gorgeous Segolene Royal. He is almost certain to get into the final round, when his price should narrow even more, allowing the cautious punter to lay off the bet should they wish.

Gordon still value on Betfair

This week I have had 1.27 matched on Betfair on Gordon Brown being the next leader of the Labour Party. Elsewhere I have seen him as narrow as 1.05. Short of him falling under a bus I can't see anyone else winning. I have a couple of covering bets on David Miliband, Charles Clarke, and John Hutton, but 1.27 on Gordon is fantastic value.

I still can't see him beating Cameron at the next election though.

Gambling, cricket playing, marathon running, Fawlty Towers fan with too much time on his hands, finally gets round to starting his own blog.
I settled for "Is this a piece of your brain", partly because it is my favorite line from Fawlty Towers, but mainly because everything else I thought of had already been taken. Imagination clearly not my strong point.
